Notes for UCAS
School ContextQueen Mary’s College is an open access sixth form institution with a full-time student body of c.2000. We recruit primarily from the borough’s varied comprehensive schools but also attract students from further afield. Level 3 students undertake 3 A levels or applied general equivalents, together with an enrichment programme. We offer a wide range of BTEC and Cambridge Technical courses at all levels. A number of our university applicants will have enrolled on level 2 programmes with us before embarking on study at level 3. Typical class size is 18-25. Around 75% of our cohort will apply for university, with around 85% being successful in their applications.
During both lockdowns we continued with remote teaching and we hope that no students were disadvantaged as a result. Where students had to isolate or quarantine we enabled remote access to lessons.
Predicted gradesWe try to keep our predicted grades as accurate as we can to make them a genuine reflection of student effort and achievement. Yet we also encourage our students to be aspirational. We base predicted grades on end of first year exams where available, alongside a range of other work students have completed. We will comment on individual mitigating circumstances in the student’s reference.
