Perform

QMC’s Performing Arts Centre of Excellence boasts specialist staff who are experts in their field. Whether you would like to enhance your profile and give yourself the advantage when applying for university, drama schools and conservatoires, or simply spend your enrichment time with other students with similar musical interests, you will find a lot of options to suit your needs.

Please note that the list of enrichments is constantly changing with new opportunities being added on a regular basis too.

PLAYWRITING

You have the chance to work with playwrights from the National Theatre. The aim is to write your own 30 minute play about the challenging issues that matter to you. This is an opportunity to explore your talent, sharpen your approach to research, develop and articulate ideas on key ethical questions and dilemma. The course should support and encourage a lifelong enthusiasm for theatre and an understanding of the power of theatre to engage audiences in serious debate. The course supports the development of transferable skills for employment and further study; including self-management, team working, communication and literacy skills, problem solving, and critical engagement with your chosen subject material.

QMC DANCE COMPANY

QMC Dance Company is aimed at students who have had some technical dance experience in either Jazz, Contemporary or Classical Ballet and want to expand their training and perform original work. The company’s work is predominantly contemporary based, so would suit students with an interest in this art form. The company works throughout the year building up a repertory of performance work for college and for events outside of QMC. Through rehearsals you will increase and develop your skills and create dance works to perform in and outside of College. QMC Dance Company has previously performed regionally at events such as Basingstoke Festival and nationally for U-Dance. Work has also been taken to arts centres such as the Anvil in Basingstoke and The Grange in Alresford.
