Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why should I attend?
A: WelcomeFest is an exciting opportunity to confirm your choices, experience college life, and attend taster lessons for the subjects you’re planning to study at QMC. We’re confident you’ll leave feeling reassured, informed and excited about starting in September.

Q: What time does WelcomeFest start and finish?
A: The day runs from 09:00 to 13:45. Please arrive early to allow time to walk to your first session location.

Q: What should I wear to WelcomeFest?
A: There’s no dress code – just wear something comfortable and appropriate for a day of learning and walking around the campus. If you’re taking part in a sport or dance related session, wear appropriate clothing and footwear. (Dance shoes are not required on the day).

Q: I’m arriving by car – where should I be dropped off?
A: Cliddesden Road is unusually busy at drop-off on WelcomeFest due to a high number of students arriving at the same time. Please use public transport where possible, lift share to reduce the number of vehicles, or use the turning circle at the end of Cliddesden Road for quick drop-offs.

Q: When will I receive my timetable for the day?
A: We will email your timetable on 20th June.

Q: What should I bring?
A: Just bring a pen and some paper to make notes during your taster sessions.

Q: How will I find my way around?
A: Don’t worry – there will be plenty of friendly staff and students around to help you. You’ll also receive a map along with your timetable on 20th June. (And just so you know – there’s no bell at college, so you’ll be responsible for getting to your lessons on time!)

Q: Who can attend WelcomeFest?
A: This event is exclusively for Year 11 QMC applicants.

Q: Can I buy breakfast and lunch?
A: Yes. Breakfast is available from 08:30, and our food outlets will be open at lunchtime. You’re also welcome to bring your own lunch.

Q: What time do the college buses leave at the end of WelcomeFest?
A: Buses will depart QMC at 14:00.

Q: I’d like to sign up for a Sports Team – can I do this at WelcomeFest?
A: Yes! You don’t need to be studying Sport to take part in a team. Head to the QM Sports Centre during lunchtime on the day to sign up and receive all the information you need.

Q: Should I tell you about any special access requirements?
A: Yes, absolutely. We are committed to inclusion and fair access for all. If you haven’t already told us about any access requirements, please get in touch.

Q: I have an unanswered question. Who can help?
A: Our friendly Admissions Team will be happy to help – just drop them an email here.
