Thursday 16th August saw Queen Mary’s College students finally getting to open their exam results. Nerves and anxiety were soon replaced with smiles and tears of joy as students realised that they had achieved the grades they had been hoping for, and in many cases had surpassed them.
The College’s excellent exam results once again demonstrate why Queen Mary’s College has such a strong reputation for providing education and support for students from a wide range of academic backgrounds, with the majority of students gaining better grades than their prior achievement at GCSE would predict. Performance was consistently high across all subject areas, enabling students to progress successfully onto a wide range of degrees and apprenticeships.
QMC is particularly renowned for the quality of teaching and support provided for students studying maths and science subjects, and as a result many talented young people will be pursuing their dreams in areas such as scientific research, medicine and Engineering.
Particularly impressive grades were achieved by Neil Wilson (ex -Henry Beaufort School) who achieved 4 A* grades and is headed to Cambridge to study Engineering. Neil Wilson, pictured with proud Mum Wendy added “I’m ecstatic! I’m really happy for Neil. I’m so pleased he came here, the whole experience has been marvellous, it was a fantastic choice andwe’re thrilled about it!”
Principal Ali Foss commented “Once again staff and students have worked exceptionally hard, and I am very proud of these best-ever examination results. Our aim at QMC is to produce happy and successful young people who are well equipped for the next phase in their lives. We are pleased to be celebrating their achievements today, and we wish them well for the future.”
