Home > Student Support Student SupportYou will find lots of support available to you at Queen Mary’s, and with the right sort of help you will be able to enjoy your time with us and go on to achieve to your full potential. At the main entrance you will find the Help Desk. This is your first point of call if you need assistance and is open whenever the College is open. This is also where you report any absences or accidents. The number to call if you need to speak to the Help Desk is 01256 417526. Giving the Support You NeedWhen you arrive at College you will have a Personal Tutor who will really get to know you. Your Tutor is there to help and advise on all aspects of your College life and is also there to talk to should you want help with personal problems. Alternatively, you could make an appointment for a confidential interview with one of our professional counsellors. If your Tutor can’t help you they know who can, and can put you in touch with a whole range of other services, including counselling, Connexions, careers advice, and skills support. Our Skills Centre can help you with any personal study skill from time-management to overcoming dyslexia. Your Personal Tutor and your Subject Tutors will also help you review your overall progress every term so that you know how well you are doing and what you need to do to improve. Support for students with financial problems is available from a variety of funds. These include the new Educational Maintenance Allowance and the Queen Mary’s Foundation. Whatever your financial difficulty, whether it is travel, buying books, materials, or College trips, we will try to help. The cost of bus travel to the College is subsidised and further help is available for those who need it through the EMA system. If you are a disabled person, please ensure that we know what you need so that we can make all reasonable adjustments to help you succeed.
