Student Life

When you start as a new student at Queen Mary’s you will find that a lot of the College is also new. Over 1,000 students join every September. They come from a variety of backgrounds and from a wide area. Some travel from other European countries and even further abroad to experience their sixth form education in Basingstoke.

Everyone has a chance of a fresh start: a chance to make new friends and to try new subjects. People remember their days as students at the College for the rest of their lives;

‘My time at QMC was crucial in developing the anger against injustice and oppression which has energised my life. Coming to the College was an intellectual release. I was treated as an equal by talented staff who demanded that all assertions, especially by those whose word is unquestionable, should be questioned’. - Alex Thomson; Chief Correspondent of Channel 4 News

If you want to get the most out of your time with us, get involved: There are lots of social events, firstrate music and drama, and a highquality sports programme.
