Parents and Guardians
Queen Mary's College places great importance upon establishing a partnership with parents and guardians, to support young people through this important phase of their lives.
Student Support
Please view the Guide for Parents 2011-12 which gives you an overview of the systems we have in place to advise and support students in achieving their potential. Please feel free to contact us at any time on any particular aspect of your son’s or daughter’s education. You can also view Student Support here.
Absences
If you would like to notify us that your son or daughter will be absent from College, please call us on 01256 417500. In addition to tracking student attendance on Vista, the College now notifies parents/guardians of unauthorised and self authorised absences by text message. Find out more about our absence texting system here.
Open Evenings
Parents and guardians are invited to come along to our open evenings to have a look around the College and speak to teachers. Find out about our Open Evenings here.
Consultation Evenings
Consultation evenings with parents and guardians are held on a termly basis. Appointments with teachers/tutors are by invitation and letters and appointment sheets will be sent approximately two weeks’ before the evening. However, if you do not receive an invitation letter you are welcome to contact your son’s/daughter’s Personal and/or Subject Tutors to arrange an appointment.
VISTA for Parents
VISTA is a comprehensive system for monitoring student progress, which allows parents/guardians to see a wide range of information relating to their son/daughters attendance, homework completion and marks, regular reviews with personal tutors and review grades given at the end of each half term. At QMC we know how important parents/guardians are in supporting our efforts, and to this end we have now made Vista available to all students primary contacts. View the Vista User Guide here and you can log into Vista here.
If you have any queries about Vista then please email v4p@qmc.ac.uk or call Central Registry on 01256 417500.
