QMC Welcome Day, Monday 2^nd July

Our Welcome Day, for all new students starting at the College in September 2012, took place on Monday 2nd July. The day was a great opportunity for new students to find out more about College life and what they can expect when they join us in September.
Over 700 Students spent the morning in groups, taking part in a lively activity associated with one of their chosen subjects.

 Each session incorporated the opportunity to learn a good deal more about day to day life at QMC and the ways in which the College is able to support students through this crucial stage of their education.

After the group session students were given the opportunity to take part in a great selection of fun activities whilst also enjoying a free lunch from Cafe QM. Despite the rain several students braved the 24 foot climbing wall and enjoyed trying to be the fastest to reach the top. Central Studio was host to amazing performances by boy band Concept whilst some students chose to visit QM Sports Centre to try walking on water in giant inflatable hamster balls! 

 As well as the fun activities on offer there were also various stands providing students with support on issues such as finance, transport and work experience. Some students were understandably nervous about starting College, especially those who attended schools out of the area or didn’t know other students. These students were able to attend ‘The One Club’ which was especially set up to support students in similar situations. Students who visited the stand were introduced to others and started to build new friendships. The One Club will continue over enrolment and induction so that students also have the opportunity to build upon such friendships when starting College in September.

 The Welcome day was a great success in helping students to feel more relaxed about starting QMC. We hope that students can now make the most of the extended summer break and we look forwarding to welcoming all of the new students to QMC in September.
