We also provide a general enquiry service, induction for new library users, and focussed support for specific assignments in all subject areas. Opening Hours
ResourcesOn the ground floor you will find many general and subject specific works of reference. Foreign language dictionaries, encyclopaedias, maps and atlases are also on the ground floor, as is our extensive collection of journals and periodicals. You will also find books and other materials in heavy demand for assignments located on the temporary reference shelves and in the quick reference section, again on the ground floor. There is also a large collection of DVDs and videos which may be viewed in the Library or borrowed for a period of one week. On the first floor our stock of books for lending is shelved in Dewey Decimal order. In addition to academic books shelved by subject, we also hold a moderately sized collection of fiction that is shelved in alphabetical order by author
MembershipMembership is open to all students and staff at Queen Mary's College. You will need to have your QM card with you if you wish to borrow any resources. You are entitled to borrow up to 4 items, which can include 2 DVDs. Most books may be borrowed for a period of three weeks, short term loans may be borrowed for a week. DVDs and videos can also be borrowed from the Library for one week.
AccessAll the areas of the Library are accessible to students and staff. Wheelchair users can reach the first floor of the main Library building via the lift located at the far end of the ground floor, by the Librarian's office. Once on the first floor, wheelchair users can gain access to books shelved on the stepped up area, and move through into the Computing Studies department, by using the Stannah wheelchair users' lift. Please ask at the Enquiry Desk if you need any further assistance.
CareersAt the far end of the main Library building, you will find an extensive collection of Careers' Information. A Careers' Adviser is available by appointment, and the Careers Administrator is available to help with enquiries in room 532 of the library.
