Chemistry (Salters) AS and A Level

Chemistry is the branch of science that deals with materials, looking at how they can be made and changed. It is concerned with all aspects of substances, their physical and chemical properties, their composition and structure, their synthesis and use in the 21st century. During the course you will be studying different aspects of the subject including the Periodic Table of Elements, Fuels, Polymer and Atmospheric chemistry. You will be building on what you have learnt at GCSE in areas such as structure and bonding, rates of reaction, pH and organic chemistry. You will be looking in greater detail and depth at the way chemicals are used to aid your understanding and interest.
   
Method of Assessment: 70% examination, 30% coursework. The A2 year includes a 4 week investigation of your own choice
