Sport and Physical Education AS and A Level
| This course will show you how sport has developed to the present day and how it is organised. You will also learn to improve your own performance as a sportsperson. In the first (AS Level) year, you will study fitness training and skill acquisition, some historical and sociological aspects of sport, and programmes to enhance your own performance. In the second year, the course covers exercise physiology, psychology, biomechanics and the world of the elite performer. You will be able to apply your knowledge to the classroom analysis of sports issues and to your own practical sports activities. The course has options that allow you to score high grades for high level physical skills. The practical component represents 40% of the course and requires you to be assessed in 2 of 3 roles at AS: performer, official or leader. At A Level you will be assessed in one of these roles. |
