Sport (Sports Development and Fitness) – BTEC National Certificate and Diploma
| The National Certificate is a 12 unit course (equivalent to 2 A Levels) and the National Diploma an 18 unit course (equivalent to 3 A Levels). Both are two-year courses that provide progression routes directly into employment or onto an HND or Degree programme. Units studied for the Certificate are: Fitness Testing for Sport and Exercise; Instructing Physical Activity and Exercise; Training and Fitness for Sport; Leadership in Sport; Practical Team Sports; Psychology for Sports Performance; Body in Action and Sports Nutrition; Sports Coaching; Sports Development; Health and Safety plus an additional unit, Rules, Regulations and Officiating in Sport to make up the 12 units. If you choose the Diploma, as well as studying the units for the Certificate, you will also study Analysis of Sports Performance; Practical Individual Sports; Sports Biomechanics; Organising Sports Events; Sports Injuries; Exercise for Specific Groups and a work based project. The courses are designed for those students who have a strong commitment to sport and are very interested in either progressing directly into the sport and recreation industry or progressing on to higher education. |

| Method of Assessment: |
continuously assessed through assignment work (written, presentations, practical performances, group work). each unit is graded Pass, Merit or Distinction, the highest grade on the Diploma being DDD. |
