Philosophy AS and A Level
Philosophers raise questions about issues that thoughtful people find puzzling. For example:- Can you ever be sure about what others are thinking or feeling?
- Are you free to do what you choose to do?
- Are your moral beliefs any better than the next persons?
- Can you distinguish between experiences of reality and experiences that occur in vivid dreams?
You will study Philosophy in two ways; first, by looking at what philosophers like Plato, Descartes, Hume, Mill, Nietzsche and Sartre have said; second, by examining specific issues in the theory of knowledge, moral philosophy, political philosophy and the philosophy of mind. Both involve asking questions, arguing, trying out ideas and generally wondering whether you can justify the beliefs you have. |
