Asset Languages (GCSE equivalent) Options available: Spanish (plus Italian and Russian according to demand)

If you have an interest in languages but have not so far been able to study the language of your choice, you can join one of the Asset Languages classes. Asset Languages is a programme based on the national framework of the Languages Ladder. It will allow you to develop your language and gain certification in each skill – speaking, listening, reading and writing – at different levels, building up to an overall qualification at GCSE standard. You will begin by using the language practically to communicate in a wide range of situations, such as social contexts, holidays, or discussion of topical issues. You will take part in role plays to gain confidence in speaking, use IT to develop your writing skills, and the Language Laboratory for listening and interactive work. At the end of the GCSE course you will be able to choose whether to continue with AS/A Level study in the second year.
