English Literature AS and A Level
| You will study a range of literature from different periods and of different kinds, covering prose, poetry and plays (including, of course, Shakespeare). Our aim is for you to gain increased pleasure from reading by exploring the rich potential of literary language through group and class discussion of what you have read, and through your own writing. Most of the teaching revolves around class and group discussion, but you will be encouraged to do some independent research and presentation of your ideas. English is a highly valued qualification for almost every field of study in Higher Education, and fits well with almost any combination of A Level subjects. |
